ISL Foootball: Krishna hat-trick sinks Odisha FC

A red hot hat-trick from Roy Krishna powered ATK to a 3-1 win over Odisha FC in the Indian Super League clash at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata today. After a goalless first half, the brilliance of Krishna (49’, 60’, 63’) saw ATK surge to a 3-0 lead.

Manuel Onwu pulled one back for Odisha FC (67’) but it turned out to be just a consolation as ATK saw the game out quite comfortably. The three points see ATK go top, tied on points with FC Goa with 33 points from 16 matches.

The won over Odisha FC ensured a berth in the semifinals for ATK. For Odisha, a third loss on the bounce has dealt a huge blow to their play-off hopes, which is now hanging by a thread. Odisha FC now occupy the sixth position in the table with 21 points from 16 games. They have won six, lost seven and drawn three matches so far.

The Club Award of the match was given to ATK FC as they won the game. Prabir Das collected the Player of the Match Award while Jayesh Rane bagged the Winning Pass of the Match Award.

Sumit Rathi took the Emerging Player of the Match Award while Roy Krishna grabbed the Hero of the Match Award for his fantastic hat-trick. He has registered 13 goals in the current season and has made his way to the top of the ISL Golden Boot race.
